New Port Richey Solitary ground nesting wasp


New Port Richey Florida.
Solitary wasp "Cicada Killers" (Sphecius speciosus),  burrow in the ground, building galleries for developing brood. The females use their sting to paralyze their prey (cicadas) which are used as food to rear their young.
