Bees in a Tree in Ocala, FL

These Bees decided to not go with the normal "build your nest in a void" but instead to create an external honey bee nest. External honey bee nests normally arent so successful because it is more difficult to keep the temperatures correct and the bees are open to the environment.

This nest was quite successful, and at the time removal was at its prime. The nest weighed over 75 pounds and was very aggressive and plentiful. If you come in contact with these stinging insects, call the experts.Contact the stinging insect specialists, entomologists, beekeepers, licensed and insured. Ocala Yellow Jacket wasp nest

It's been an interesting spring for us this year.. Drought combined with a very mild winter has our stinging insects in a 'tizzy'.  Yellow Jacket wasp nests for instance, are still packed with virgin queens, which is VERY strange this time of year. Normally, these queens will leave the nest during November or December, and seek out a nice log to overwinter in. Then, at the start of spring, they search for suitable nest locations, and start new nests en-masse.

This pic is typical for us. A modest nest opening, consisting of a 'paper-mache' that the wasps create from cellulose and saliva. Several guard workers, and a busy stream of wasps flying in and out of the nest openings. Doesn't look like much, eh?

Oh contrare... these nests can extend for several feet in diameter.. under the ground, and maybe two to three feet down. The wasps are very well adapted for excavating soil and building nests, and can number in the hundreds of thousands of individuals!

Ocala "On Top of the World" Bee Removal

Bees infest pallets in Ocala, Fla.

Honey Bees infest a pallet in Ocala, Fla, near On Top of the World Community. We are seeing many more bee infestations in this area of Marion County, and perform bee removals here very frequently. Many times these bees are located near residential areas, but in this case we were able to perform a live honey bee relocation, only because this was far removed from humans, livestock and pets. Africanized Honey Bees are a real concern for us in Marion County now, and mean bees are becoming more common.

Please, if you encounter a bee infestation, call us at 1-800-343-5317.

Marion County Honey Bee Swarm on Soffit

Here's a photo of a large Ocala Honey Bee Swarm that alighted on a home soffit, just outside the kitchen window!!
Marion County Honey Bee Swarm on soffit

Most swarms can appear dangerous, with thousands of flying bees during the time when a swarm is either landing or taking off for permanent digs. In most cases, swarms are not very defensive, though I wouldn't advise spraying them or doing the teenage boy thing--throwing rocks at them!! If you just leave them alone, they will usually leave within hours.

Sometimes though, honey bee swarms will attempt to build a nest right where you see them, or try to move into voids, such as this soffit.

If you have a swarm that persists for more than a couple days, give us a call at 1-800-343-5317 for expert bee swarm removal.

Ocala honey bee external nest in Pine Tree

This nest is a beauty, about 15 feet high, and 7 plates wide. It looks like the colony swarmed recently, as you can see much of the comb material. In a couple weeks, it will be covered with bees once again.
Ocala Bees in Tree

Here's the problem. This nest is located adjacent to a large manufacturing facility AND a school!. Children run through this natural area, and it's a disaster just waiting to happen. So, we've removed the nest, in a manner that minimizes bee activity after the removal. Most folks practicing this art seem to cast a blind eye to the numbers of bees that will cluster in the spot of the former nest, posing quite a danger to adults and children alike, as the bees get defensive and possibly stinging anything that moves.

Hire the professionals, ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com has teams that are licensed, insured, and use a protocol developed by stinging insect entomologists, to ensure your safety. Call us at 1-800-343-5317

Ocala Honey Bees in Tree Removal

Ocala external honey bee nest in tree
Most Honey Bees usually build their nests inside voids, such as tree holes, but sometimes they elect to build what we call "external" nests.
Usually, external nests fare poorly, as the bees find it difficult to maintain proper temperatures for rearing young bees, and to defend against marauding beetle, moth, fly, and competing bee pests.
African Honey Bees, aka Killer Bees, build external nests at a much higher rate, so if you encounter an external nest, the probability is that the nest is an African or Killer Bee nest.

This bee nest weighed ~ 75 pounds!

This photo shows me next to the honey bee removal I did today. It was located near the Florida Greenspace park in Ocala, and had been there at least 2 years.

Homes located near this bee nest in tree

Neighbors told me that the bees had repeatedly stung yard workers using power equipment and small children in nearby yards had been harrassed by the bees as well.
Please don't attempt tree bee removals, as these bees can get very defensive when they sense they are under attack. Call the entomologists at ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com 800-343-5317!

Ocala horse farm Yellow Jacket removal

Ocala Yellow Jacket Nest
We received a 911 call today from an Ocala horse farm.. Ground bees were swarming and attacking guests and pets attempting to get through the main gate.

Well, we arrived near dusk, and found a sizable colony of Southern YellowJackets, and boy, were they mad! Somebody had sprayed them with wasp spray, which killed some of them, but really made the rest of them ballistic!

This photo shows several of the plates, and you can plainly see the pupal cases, which are the white swatches. I think the symmetry of the queen's laying pattern is really beautiful, don't you?

So, contact us, for expert Ocala Yellow Jacket Removal, even these nests that measure over three feet wide. Call 352-870-0346 or 1-800-343-5317 or visitALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com

Ocala bees on tree Limb

While most Honey Bee colonies elect to build in confined voids, such as hollow trees, some build right out in the open, usually hanging their comb from the bottoms of large limbs.
This external colony proclivity, is a known trait for African, or Killer Bees, but plain-vanilla European Bee colonies will build nests externally as well, but a much lower rate.
This colony was located on farm land, so we might try a live removal, as there's wide open spaces and a pretty low sting risk. The owner is neat too, he is allowing us to place some of our hive boxes near his garden area! coolio.

Marion County Bumble Bee removal

This photo shows me holding the pupal cases from a Bumble Bee nest that was located in a Citra, FL., cabbage palm tree.

Bumble bee nests are really cool looking, loosely constructed with lots of the egg looking shapes, which are actually developing pupae, the metamorphosis stage between larvae grub and adult with wings.

This nest of at least 150 adults was particularly defensive, stinging the homeowner, her dogs and even peacocks! The bumble bees chased her over 300 feet into her house. She tried to treat them at night, and they even followed her and stung her again!

Want to see more Bumble Bee jobs we've performed? Just click here!

Please, don't attempt a removal of bees, as they can be deadly, even swarms have attacked us since Killer Bees are now here. We've had fatalities occur in Florida because of improper stinging insect removal techniques.
