Natl. Honey Bee Appreciation Day 2011

We recently participated in the annual National Honey Bee Appreciation Day, which occurred this year on Saturday, August 20th. Honey Bee associations throughout the nation held open houses and other events, and since we are 'lifers', we participated in Orlando's Orange Blossom Beekeepers event.

Here's a pic of our booth with our technician/beekeeper, Jason Deeringer talking to folks about honey bees, African 'Killer' bees, and many other very important stinging insects. We provided posters, videos, nest samples and we even set up a microscope so visitors could view eggs, larvae, pupae and honey bee adults up close and personal.

  1. Beekeepers will be selling their local honey (from all areas of central Florida) candles, and other products of the hive. There will be fun and educational movies and videos , some great food and of course, many knowledgeable beekeepers to answer all of your questions.
