Daytona Yellow Jackets attack camera!
This was a fun one!
We performed a Volusia county Yellow Jacket wasp treatment and removal in a horse pasture. It was a very nice sized nest, and I thought getting some POV video from near the nest would bee very interesting.
As you can see, I positioned the camera very close to the nest opening and within seconds, hundreds of Yellow jackets were swarming around the camera, and actively stinging the black rubber and fabric parts of the lens shroud, handle, etc.
I hope to edit the camera video and post it, so stay tuned, as it should be WILD!!
his species is the Southern Yellow Jacket, Vespula squamosa. See our Yellowjacket pages for more info. These wasp nests can get HUGE, with numbers over one MILLION individuals. Here's a link to a video of us treating a large Yellow Jacket wasp nest..notice how many of these wasps are flying around! When you get a nest this size, treatments that your redneck brother-in-law recommends (like gasoline, kerosene, putting a bowl over the openings) simply do not work. (Read here why gasoline and kerosene should NEVER be used, anyway!). We have arrived at many, many jobs where clients have tried all these treatments and more, and STILL have the Yellowjackets, but now they've really made them MAD!!!
Protect yourself, your neighbors and your assets. Call us at 386.490.4541, 800-343-5317 or go here to submit a Quote request, for professional Volusia & Daytona Beach Yellow Jacket removal from the Stinging Insect Experts at ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com

Ocala Yellow Jacket wasp nest
It's been an interesting spring for us this year.. Drought combined with
a very mild winter has our stinging insects in a 'tizzy'. Yellow
Jacket wasp nests for instance, are still packed with virgin queens,
which is VERY strange this time of year. Normally, these queens will
leave the nest during November or December, and seek out a nice log to
overwinter in. Then, at the start of spring, they search for suitable
nest locations, and start new nests en-masse.
This pic is typical for us. A modest nest opening, consisting of a 'paper-mache' that the wasps create from cellulose and saliva. Several guard workers, and a busy stream of wasps flying in and out of the nest openings. Doesn't look like much, eh?
Oh contrare... these nests can extend for several feet in diameter.. under the ground, and maybe two to three feet down. The wasps are very well adapted for excavating soil and building nests, and can number in the hundreds of thousands of individuals!
Bee Safe, contact us, the Stinging Insect Experts at ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com 800-343-5317 for proper Yellow Jacket removal. Remember, our services are most likely cheaper than any Emergency Room Visit!

Orlando Yellow Jacket Removal
Sometimes we are called to large Yellow Jacket infestations, and these are always a lot of hard, hot and challenging work.
Check out this nest, which I took pics of after I removed it from under an ornamental hedge:
It measured over 4 feet long X 2 feet deep and left quite a crater underneath the hedge. The client was soooo happy that I removed the nest properly and quickly on a 99 degree sunny day!
If you have ground bees, ground wasps or yellowjackets, call us, The Stinging Insect Experts for quick and competent removals of your stingers! 1-800-343-5317 or 321-206-5100

Please, don't attempt a removal of yellow jackets, as they are deadly. We've had many fatalities occur in Florida because of improper removal techniques. Contact the Stinging Insect Experts at 1-800-343-5317 or submit a yellow jacket inquiry here!

Here, you see FP&L's Doug, all suited up for Yellow Jackets. He survived an earlier attack of Yellow Jacket wasps while working hard to restore power to victims of a very strong thunderstorm. We often have to suit up and assist utility workers, as they need to perform their specialized services in a timely manner and our technicians are required to remove the stinging insect threat.
Yes, we perform bee removals for most of the electric utilities in Florida, often in dangerous locations. They trust us to provide professional & competent bee removal services and reduce the liability inherent with stinging insects. Click here for other jobs we've done for utilities. Largo Bee Removal - Huge Yellow Jacket nest in Palm Tree
Yellow Jackets are social wasps that, here in Florida at least, can construct nests that span several feet. One such nest we were called to was located in the City of Largo, Fl, in a palm tree about 25 feet up, and had been stinging folks that passed nearby. We perform many of these removals in palms; these dangerous wasps can excavate the soft, pithy material just below the leaf stalks, and eventually build huge nests like you see below:
If performed incorrectly, this nest has the potential to cause severe injury or death. Contact us for fast, proper removal of Largo Yellow Jacket nests in trees, or anywhere else for that matter. Visit our website to submit an appointment form or call us at 1-800-343-5317.

Daytona Beach Yellow Jacket Nest Removal with Queen and Eggs!
Got lucky on this photo. I had just removed a Southern Yellow Jacket (Vespula squamosa), from an apartment hedge, and was taking some pics. The Queen was positioned on the outside of the nest material, and just above her are 2 eggs freshly laid in cells! I shot this with my Iphone camera, using available light.
Rarely can I see Yellowjacket eggs laid in the cells. And to get this with my Iphone, well, just wow!!
Anyway, this nest was threatening Apartment residents, so we were called to remove it properly, meaning we minimize the flight activity of these very defensive wasps, during and after our treatment and removals.
Remember, all it takes is ONE sting to cause a fatality. Bee Safe, contact ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com at 800-343-5317.
