Yellow Jacket Larger than Man

Don't Mess With These Yellow Jackets, Highly Dangerous

TAMPA, FL -
Jonathan Simkins is an expert in flying insects. He has a degree in entomology from the University of Florida, and has been working in the industry for more than twenty years.
Simkins is the owner of Insect I.Q.  He travels all over Florida to deal with honey bees, Africanized bees, yellow jackets and other stinging insects.
Recently, he faced the challenge of his life.
Simkins was called to a large, privately-owned tract of land in Central Florida to deal with a huge yellow jacket wasp nest.
"I have never seen a nest this large in my entire life," said Simkins.  "This is the prehistoric nest from the dinosaur ages."
He says the nest was more than six and half feet tall, and eight feet wide.  It may have contained more than a million insects.
"To put it into perspective, a nest we deal with on a day to day basis might have a thousand to five thousand," Simkins said.
Simkins shot his own video of the nest before he eradicated it.
As he approached the nest, the worker wasps attacked him and his equipment.
In the video you can hear hundreds of wasps hit the camera.  The buzzing is non-stop, and Simkins' voice is clearly tense.
"I have to be honest with you, I was terrified at one point, and there were several times that I had to pull out and get a breather. My heart rate was racing, I had hundreds of them on my veil," said Simkins.
He used a spray and his own technique to kill the entire nest.
Simkins says if someone had walked up to the nest unawares, and riled the wasps, they could have been killed..
"We definitely did save lives. This land is hunted.  It's leased out for hunters, if somebody comes across this, you're not going to get away.  You can see in the video, I run a hundred yards away and I sill have thousands of yellow jackets chasing me, all over me, trying to kill me," said Simkins.
The video ends the next day as Simkins walks up to the nest without his protective helmet on. Simkins stands next to the remains of the huge nest, and declares it dead.

Giant Yellow Jacket Nest.

Check out our video on the giant yellowjacket nest we  did, this nest was dubbed the "prehistoric nest" and was a very interesting nest even for an entomologist to do who has been in this business for years.

Our honey bee swarm season continues here in Orlando, and throughout Florida. Honey bees live in a harmonious social structure that swells to maybe 50 THOUSAND adults during the spring blooming season. When colonies are bursting at the seam with such numbers, a swarm response occurs, where up to about half the colony's members will leave the nest in a coordinated issuance, flying around the nest area. The queen is coaxed to leave as well and the whole group is herded by a dedicated corps of 'scouts', that guide them to a new location to build a new colony. The sight of this swarming behavior is frightening to many, but if one stays quiet and moves little, one can observe a wonder of the world, for it still entertains and sets this seasoned entomologist to wonder. If you come in contact with these stinging insects, call the experts.Contact the stinging insect specialists, entomologists, beekeepers, licensed and insured. DeLand Honey Bee Colony in Garage Wall

DeLand Honey Bee Colony in Garage Wall
DeLand Bee hive in Garage Wall

This colony of bees started building this nest about 2 weeks ago, gaining entry through a tiny gap around a plumbing hose bib. A hole only needs to be 1/4" to allow bees enough space to enter voids such as this uninsulated garage wall. Within months, this space could be filled with a hundred pounds of comb, honey, pollen and bees. If you come in contact with these stinging insects, call the experts.Contact the stinging insect specialists, entomologists, beekeepers, licensed and insured. Apopka Bee Removal: A few Bees? Surprise!

We receive plenty of phone calls and emails, where clients see 'just a few bees', entering a small hole in a wall or soffit, or just about any other void-containing structural areas.
Just a few Apopka Honey Bees on a wall??

We always advise the client that these few bees may indicate a lurking surprise, possibly a nest containing up to 60,000 honey bees and hundreds of pounds of comb, pollen, honey and bees!

Yeah, this is is a pic of a typical bee infestation, this one was above the master bedroom, and weighed several hundred pounds. Not good...
Apopka Bee Removal - What really lurks...

Please, don't attempt an Apopka Bee Removal, as they can be deadly, even swarms have attacked us since Killer Bees are now here. We've had fatalities occur in Florida because of improper stinging insect removal techniques.

Melbourne, Fla: Honey Bees Swarming Dryer Vent

Melbourne, Fla. Apartments: Honey Bees Swarming a dryer vent

This is a common situation for us in Spring & Early summer. Apartment home residents are suddenly sharing their living space with hundreds of honey bees. Management calls us (We perform property management bee removals for most of the Mgt. firms in Florida), and we find a honey bee swarm has moved in to the space AROUND the dryer vent.
Melbourne, Fla bees swarming apartment dryer vent

The first thing I check for is caulk or expanding foam, usually applied by a well meaning staff member in an attempt to block bee movement. But in reality, they've made the problem worse, by sealing Thousands of bees INSIDE the apartment home!!! Look closely at the photo above and you'll see the caulk.

Brevard County has had an influx of Africanized Killer Bees overtake the European races that used to dominate the feral populations. As such, Space Coast Bee Removals should only be performed by bee specialists that hold Florida Pest Control Certifications and are experienced beekeepers. Our firm owners hold Univ. of Florida Graduate Entomology degrees and are considered top bee removal experts by our peers, worldwide.

Please, don't attempt sealing of bees inside structures, as they can be deadly, even swarms have attacked us since Killer Bees are now here. We've had fatalities occur in Florida because of improper stinging insect removal techniques.

We service Space Coast Apartments bee removals and Multi-family properties daily and carry all necessary insurances and certifications.

Pinellas DIY Bee Removal gone horribly wrong!

Folks, this is why you should consider hiring The Stinging Insect Experts to remove your bee removal job:

These clients assumed that a bit of insecticide would kill their bee colony located in their house wall. All they accomplished was irritating 50,000 bees and moving them INSIDE the house!

Bee "POO" covering window
What do bees do when they get inside a room? The leave lots of bee "POO" on windows, walls, furniture and more. And this excrement is very difficult to clean up.

This video shows bees flying around the interior room, bees on the wall and loads of bee frass (poo) covering every surface.

Please, don't attempt a Pinellas County Bee Removal, as they can be deadly, even swarms have attacked us since Killer Bees are now here. We've had fatalities occur in Florida because of improper stinging insect removal techniques.

Rockledge Bee Removal gone Bad!

We often are called in to clean up after a bee treatment or removal gone bad. This Rockledge Bee Removal is increasingly a very common job for us.
Rockledge Bee Removal gone wrong. Bee Poo all over window

The picture above shows what happens when a bee colony that is present inside a wall, is blocked in, by someone sealing up the opening that leads to outside. Bees will find a way out.. and if it's not an 'outside out', they will readily find small openings that lead into the interior of the structure. And when bees have been holding their, um.... or in other words, when they gots to go, they go! And go they went in this house.. all over the windows, furniture, floor. Not pretty.

When you need competent Rockledge Bee Removal or any Brevard County Bee Removal, call the Stinging Insect Experts at 321-206-5100 or Toll Free at 1-800-343-5317.

July 3-Lake Mary Bee Removal

Lake Mary Bees in Wall
Here is a typical scenario we find in Florida. Honey Bees, ( including "Killer Bees" ), move thru a small wall opening and start building a nest inside the wall void. Homeowners see the activity and start spraying the nest, and either make the bees very, very mad, or kill some of the bees. In both cases the colony usually persists, albeit with some damage and possibly stings to homeowners or neighbors, or even pets!

Now what makes this even worse is that now that the colony is weakened, other insect opportunists move in and start consuming the honey and pollen that resides inside. This activity is simply the worst that can happen, as these maggots (mostly fly and beetle larvae), will quickly turn what could be hundreds of pounds of honey, pollen and other organic materials into a rotting, fermenting, viscous soup, coating the interior void and forever making that area a beacon for new bee infestations.
Lake Mary Bees in Wall

This pic shows the opening to the wall void, the hundred or so bees around the opening. The green shaded area marks the interior dimensions of the bee nest. We estimate about 90 pounds of material. Treated improperly, as most pest control companies will, you set your self up for a lifetime of cleanup and retreat costs....bee woe as it were.

Enter the "DTS" system, our Entomologist developed protocol,  prevents the fermentation and degradation, allowing the nest material to remain permanently, protected from secondary pests, and saving you significant cash!

Orange Park Bee Removal: Superman Helps with Bees in a Wall!

Sometimes, even us at ALLFloridaBeeRemoval.com need a little help from Superheroes. Here you can see Superman© is offering his expert supervisory guidance on this honey bee colony that decided to build a nest under a window in a boy's room, located in Orange Park, Florida.
SuperMan helps with Orange Park Bee Removal!

We see many honey bee infestations that get into walls, and almost always, it's because there are small openings around windows, utility penetrations (A/C,gas,water,electricity, etc.) that lead to an interior void. These voids provide a safe 'room' for bees to build their nest and is easily defended from other bees, parasites and vertebrate pests such as skunks, armadillos and teenage boys!

Go here to see more of our blog posts about bees in walls.

Sorrento Honey Bee infestation in Garage Wall

Many of the Honey Bee infestation calls we receive are for nests that are built in garage walls, much like the photo below.
Sorrento Bees in Garage Wall

Because insulation is rarely installed in these out-walls, there is ample space for bees and other critters to reside in, and if left alone, up to 200 POUNDS of honey, pollen, wax and bees can fill the wall void within a few months! Plus, we are seeing increased defensiveness associated with the Africanized Honey Bees that are expanding throughout Florida. Lake County has some particularly 'mean' bees.

Click here to see some more of our blog posts about bees in walls

Jacksonville Bee Swarm moves into a wall

Springtime means Bee swarm season, and what you see in the picture below, is a Jacksonville honey bee swarm that has decided to move through a wall and under a tub surround.
Jacksonville Swarm in house wall

This is a very common occurrence, and it sure helps to call us very soon, as if you leave the bee colony do it's thing, you could have hundreds of pounds of honey, bees, wax and pollen, that becomes a BIG problem.

Jacksonville Bee Swarm Removed
This pic shows how we cut through the wall, and into the void under the tub, where we removed the swarm and applied a residual insecticide that will thwart future bee swarms. It's an easy fix for the homeowner, to install an access panel that will allow inspections and access for things like plumbing fixtures under the tub. Notice how clean our cuts are and how we remove all bees, so the sting risk is minimized.

We are also licensed by the State of Florida as Certified Pest Control Operators, meaning we can legally remove pest honey bees from and around your structure. You will find folks that claim to be beekeepers, and are performing this work. Our advice is to run quickly from these folks, as you are afforded no protections should something go wrong. And with insects that can sting, causing injuries and/or death, don't you think it's wise to choose licensed, insured stinging insect experts? That's what I thought..  :-)

Call us at 1-800-343-5317 if you have a Jacksonville Bee swarm in or around your house!
